Debbie Armstead, Coordinator from the Hills Community Support Group Inc (HCSG) has been actively working towards achieving her vision of transforming their Day Centre into a centre of excellence by bringing in creative new approaches, including Spark of Life.

At the same time, Purslowe Funerals expressed a desire to provide sponsorship towards bringing the spark back to people with dementia through the Dementia Foundation for Spark of Life. The link to HCSG was made and they were chosen as the recipient of a $2,500 grant for their commitment to Spark of Life, their authentic enthusiasm, and their positive vision of management with a desire to educate all staff, volunteers and carers.

On 3 March 2011, at an official ceremony held at Purslowe Funerals in Midland, a cheque was presented by Andrew Hogan, General Manager of Invocare Australia, Pty Ltd on behalf of Purslowe Funerals to the Dementia Foundation for Spark of Life
